As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Company, you will join a cross functional team using the latest development technologies and agile practices, to deliver solutions that democratize education, enabling educators to amplify their impact and students to control their learning experience.

In this role you will…
  • Build magical product experiences. Make the technical & complex simple and effortless.    
  • Participate in all aspects of the software life-cycle, from ideation through development and including production support.
  • Collaborate deeply with a cross functional team of Engineers, UX, Product and Operations.  You will do more than just write code.
  • Leverage practices such as Continuous Integration, Extreme Programming (XP), Pairing, and Test Driven Development to deliver early and often.
  • Actively engage with the education community to understand product needs.
  • Apply Lean Startup/Agile approaches to software development
  • Work in an open space environment (no cube walls)
Do you have what it takes?
  • BS in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Ruby and at least one other modern language, multiple strongly preferred (e.g. C#, Python, Java, JavaScript)
  • Knowledge of full development stack (e.g. UX, Web, API, Data, Business Logic)
  • Awareness of web development best practices (e.g. MVC, REST, JavaScript)
  • Familiarity with agile methods.  Scrum and XP preferred.
  • Experience in Linux environment; Windows experience a bonus
  • Passion for self-driven, continuous learning, both in and out of the office
  • Opinionated on technology, in theory, but flexible in practice
  • Involvement with Open Source projects preferred.
  • Passion for Education is a must; experience in Ed-Tech helpful, but not required
